What I am Buying for October

Every month, I make a grocery list before I head to the store. My October grocery list gives me a starting point, keeps me from buying groceries without a plan, and helps me stay within my budget.

This is what I’m planning to buy for October. I rarely have a menu plan. Instead, I like knowing that with these ingredients on hand, I can probably make just about anything I want. It gives me the flexibility to decide what sounds good as the week unfolds. Because let’s be honest, things change, leftovers happen, and sometimes dinner starts with whatever needs to be used up.

I’m sharing my list simply as a peek into my kitchen in hopes that it will give you an idea or two for your own grocery list.

Meat: Bacon, breakfast sausage, pork roast, chicken, and canned meat.

Dairy , Eggs, and Cold Case: Milk, yoghurt, cottage cheese, eggs, butter, mozzarella, cheddar, cheese sticks, sliced cheese, guacamole, hummus, ranch dip/dressing.

Fresh Produce: Carrots, celery, onion, potatoes, cabbage, and fruit.

Frozen: Frozen veggies.

Beverages: Decaf coffee, seltzer water, frozen lemonade.

Pantry: Fats and oils, Canola oil, olive oil, sesame oil, shortening.

Grains: Rolled oats, boxed mac and cheese, popping corn, flour, rice, spaghetti noodles, ditalini noodles, and elbow macaroni.

Canned Vegetables: Diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, assorted veggies.

Beans: Dried white beans, canned refried beans.

Baking and Cooking Supplies: Cumin, baking powder, sea salt, kosher salt.

All Other Pantry Items: Olives, meat sticks, trail mix, mayonnaise, mustard, jelly, peanut butter, honey, maple syrup, parmesan cheese, tortillas, walnuts, pecans, almonds, peanuts,
